3 SEPTEMBER 2026 (Calgary, AB) – The future of Canada’s wildlife is being written right now. Across the country, forests, wetlands, rivers, and grasslands clean the air, filter the water, and shelter the species that share the land. But these places, and the wildlife that depend on them, are under mounting pressure. The choices Canadians make today will help shape the future of Canada’s wildlife and wild places, and shaping that future starts with bringing voices together.
This fall, the Wilder Institute is kicking off the second year of its Wilder Voices Speaker Series, travelling to five cities to explore the future of wildlife and wild places. Audiences will join award-winning conservationist Brian Keating and Dr. Gráinne McCabe, Chief Conservation Officer at the Wilder Institute, to discuss the challenges and opportunities facing wildlife today, and how science, collaboration, and community can help create a wilder future.
The series kicks off in Lethbridge on September 10, bringing Wilder Voices to southern Alberta before continuing to communities across the country. Audiences will hear the science and stories behind conservation efforts and connect them to the work happening in their own backyard and around the world. Together, we’ll explore stories, ideas, and perspectives that can inspire action.

The Wilder Voices Speaker Series shines a spotlight on One Wild Future, the Wilder Institute’s five-year roadmap for advancing inclusive, evidence-based conservation strategies, community partnerships, and education. It also highlights the Wilder Canada Action Plan, a national framework for conservation action. These efforts focus on strengthening partnerships and creating lasting impact for species, ecosystems, and communities. Through these initiatives and programs, the Wilder Institute is mobilizing Canadians to take meaningful action for wildlife and wild places. “This is our shared future, and we’re not building it alone,” added McCabe. “Every small action, woven together, moves us closer to One Wild Future for Canada’s species and the places they call home.”
