MAKING CANADA WILDER: WILDER VOICES SPEAKER SERIES KICKS OFF THIS OCTOBER

September 25, 2025

25 SEPTEMBER 2025 (Calgary, AB) – Across Canada, forests, wetlands, rivers, and grasslands are more than beautiful backdrops—they are living systems that clean our air, filter our water, provide refuge for wildlife, and ground us in something larger than ourselves. They slow our racing thoughts, invite us to breathe deeply, and remind us of our shared place in the natural world. But these vital places—and the wildlife that depend on them—are facing unprecedented pressure from habitat loss, climate change, and unsustainable development.

To ignite a nationwide dialogue on safeguarding biodiversity, the Wilder Institute is launching the Wilder Voices Speaker Series—a national conversation about the future of wildlife and wild places. Hosted in cities across Canada, these dynamic events will bring together leading conservation experts, storytellers, and engaged Canadians to explore solutions to the most pressing conservation challenges.

“Canada’s wild places are at the heart of who we are,” said Dr. Gráinne McCabe, Chief Conservation Officer at the Wilder Institute. “When we protect these ecosystems, we’re safeguarding our health, our communities, and the future of every species—including our own.”

The 2025 series will feature acclaimed science communicator, and host of The Nature of Things Anthony Morgan, alongside Dr. McCabe, guiding thought-provoking discussions on conservation, community action, and hope. Audiences will hear the science and stories behind conservation efforts—and discover how every Canadian can play a role in protecting biodiversity.
