Wilder Impact Fund
The Wilder Impact Fund is designed to amplify and enable community-led wildlife conservation initiatives across Canada.
Overview
The Wilder Impact Fund, stewarded by the Wilder Institute, aims to make meaningful contributions to wildlife conservation by supporting conservation translocation projects for Canadian species-at-risk. The fund’s goal is to prevent species extinctions, reverse population declines, and empower diverse groups to take action for wildlife.
2026 Launch
In spring 2026, the Wilder Institute launched the Wilder Impact Fund, a multi-year grant program that will fund Canadian conservation translocation projects. During this initial pilot year, applications are by invitation only and limited to a select number of organizations. Final grantee selections will be announced in fall 2026.After the 2026 pilot year, the Wilder Institute will be evaluating the program with feedback from applicants and considering how the initiative might be scaled up in future cycles. About the Wilder Impact Fund
At its heart, the Wilder Impact Fund is designed to amplify and enable community-led wildlife conservation initiatives across Canada. We have identified conservation translocations as a focus area in which there is both a growing need and an implementation gap. It is also an area where we can leverage our extensive experience and expertise to support both existing and emerging actors in the conservation space through grantmaking.
Our vision is to equip grantees with the funding, knowledge and resources required to implement effective, evidence-based conservation translocation programs to help species recover and thrive. We’re aiming to transform both the pace and scale of species recovery in Canada, while helping Canada meet its obligations to global biodiversity goals and targets.
