Green48’s Epic Journey Across North America!

When we left Green48, she had completed her incredible journey from Alberta to Mexico. However, one big question remained, would she survive the long journey home?

In March, Green48 began her flight. With her solar-powered satellite transmitter, we tracked her as she braved the open skies, soaring over deserts and plains, and pushing onward despite countless dangers.

Finally, after over 2,500 kilometers of flying, the moment arrived—Green48 crossed the border into Canada, soaring back into the Alberta prairies, landing just 60 kilometers from her previous burrow.

Green48 was home!

When Green48 arrived in Alberta, she had another surprise for us – she was not alone. Along the way, Green48 had found a mate!

In the following months, Green48 and her mate would welcome three owlets into the world. Another incredible success-not just for her, but for the future for her endangered species.

Green48’s story doesn’t just represent the success of one burrowing owl—it symbolizes the hope we have for the future of burrowing owls in Canada.  This hope stems from the collective efforts of numerous conservation groups that have dedicated resources, time, and energy to support burrowing owls across the prairies.

You, too, can provide hope for Green48 and other burrowing owls facing similar challenges. Your support can give burrowing owls a chance to thrive in the wild.

Please donate and help us ensure that future generations of burrowing owls can be found soaring across North America, just like Green48!
